Choosing a SATA data cable

A SATA III cable carries up to 6 Gb/s, which is more than any 2.5-inch SSD or hard drive can actually use, so any current cable is fast enough and the choice is a mechanical one. A right-angle connector is much easier to fit in a narrow case or beside a long graphics card, and a metal latch stops the cable working loose when the PC is moved. Note that M.2 NVMe drives need no data cable at all.
