M.2 NVMe SSD compatibility
M.2 describes the drive format, while NVMe describes the storage protocol used over PCIe. Some M.2 slots and drives use SATA instead, so an M.2 connector alone does not establish compatibility. Check your motherboard or laptop manual for the supported interface, drive length and installation requirements.
Capacity, connection and cooling
Choose storage capacity for your operating system, games and other files. Compare the exact drive specifications with the PCIe support of your system, and check whether a heatsink will fit, especially in a laptop. If your computer needs a 2.5-inch drive, read the SATA SSD guide. Keep a backup before replacing your storage.
Ask about an NVMe SSD or use a USB enclosure
Browse the NVMe SSDs listed on this page, or contact PCPARTS with your computer model and preferred capacity if you need another option. For an SSD you already own, compare M.2 NVMe enclosures and docking stations. Check that the enclosure supports NVMe or SATA as required; a USB enclosure does not include a drive unless explicitly listed.
M.2 NVMe SSDs we sell
We list the Samsung 990 1TB (PCIe 4.0), the Apacer AS2280P4 512GB and the HIKSEMI Wave 256GB; price and availability are on each product page.
How do I find the right NVMe SSD?
Send us your exact motherboard or laptop model and preferred storage capacity. Check PCIe/NVMe support, M.2 drive length and heatsink clearance, then confirm price and availability before ordering.
